Join Nomads UK Golf! A group of like-minded people who meet once a month to play golf and give back to the community.
Nomads was founded in South Africa in 1960 by Mike Florance, who had the vision to establish a club of no fixed abode where like-minded golfers could meet monthly, build friendships, support charities, and promote disabled, ladies, and junior golf.
Today, his principles still guide us, with more than 2,000 members across 8 countries worldwide. Our golf club brings together golfers who value camaraderie, competition, and community.
At Nomads, we follow the Medal-Stableford scoring system, playing flat against the course with handicaps added in full. Our monthly fixtures take place across Berkshire and Gloucestershire, running from August through July, culminating in the National Tournament at Old Thorns in Hampshire
An integral part of Nomads is giving back. Thanks to the generosity of our members, guests, in 2022 we donated £5,000 to Prostate Cancer UK and in 2023 proudly raised over £10,000 for The Knights Foundation.
This year we have committed to a further £5,000 to the Berkshire Healthcare charity.
Provide the opportunity for like-minded golfers to meet one another once a month to forge new friendships and cement old ones.
To encourage, promote and support the game of golf in the United Kingdom.
Through golf we make a difference by raising money for those less fortunate than ourselves.
In line with all Nomads clubs around the world, we play twelve games a year. However, due to short days and cold weather, no games are played from November to February. Additional events like the Charity Day, Mystery Tour and National Tournament mean we still complete twelve games per year.
Nomads UK has two clubs, one in Berkshire and the other in Gloucestershire. Our playing year runs from 1 August to 31 July and culminates with our National Tournament, a tournament that is attended by Nomads from around the world and held in July.
At Nomads our scoring is based on Medal-Stableford, where the round is played flat against the course and the player’s handicap is added afterwards.
