National Tournament 2025

Our club badge, a bell crossed by a golf club, is symbolic of the raison d’être of the NOMADS – through golf, the remembrance of others.

An unforgetable experience

On a balmy weekend in the middle of July at St Mellion Estate, northern Cornwall, Nomads United Kingdom held their 2nd National tournament – ‘The Kernou Nationals’

94 Nomads from around the world put their skills to the test against the renowned brutal Signature and the somewhat gentler Kernow courses.

It wasn’t all about the golfers, 44 ladies spent the weekend enjoying all the delights the hotel spa and Plymouth had to offer.

An evening at ‘The Weary Friar’, a 12th Century pub, rekindling old relationships and creating new ones was unforgettable and the hog roast at Callington Cricket Club, while being serenaded by Stu Walker, was an absolute blast.

Our gala dinner and prize giving rounded off an incredible weekend of golf, camaraderie and banter. In addition to winning the over 55’s trophy, Basil Burger was crowned Champion of Champions, the Internationals regained their title, Gloucestershire won Inter Club trophy, Brent Holmes earned bragging rights by beating the Past and Present Captains and Peter Lake was the Lord of the Rings – a title bestowed on the golfer who found the weekend more difficult than anyone else.

A massive thank you goes out to the National Tournament Committee for their hard work, dedication and attention to detail. Your efforts made our tournament the showcase of our playing calendar and put Nomads UK on the map.

To our international visitors who made this a memorable weekend – thank you.

We look forward to seeing you in 2026 at the ‘The Southdowns Nationals’ which will be held at the stunning Old Thorns Hotel and Resort in the heart of Wiltshire on the 10 & 11 July 2026.

Good luck to the 2026 National co-ordinator – Garth McCarthy and his committee, I have no doubt they will build on the success of our previous National Tournaments.
