There is no greater pleasure than supporting our community and those less fortunate than ourselves.
Gloucestershire’s charity drive kicked off in January and this year our chosen charity is the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice in Cheltenham. The Club is committed to give back to our local community through practical, meaningful projects that make a positive difference.
Sue Ryder Hospice’s grounds play an important role in patient well-being, offering a calm and therapeutic environment for patients, family and staff. Nomads Gloucestershire has committed to supply essential gardening equipment to improve and maintain these its outdoor spaces.
If you’re as passionate about helping our community as we are please contact us, any assistance in changing the lives of others is welcome.
Nomads donates 9 bicycles to the Rhodes Foundation Scholars
Bryan Burger, Ian Wright and Basil Burger had the pleasure of donating 10 bicycles on behalf of Nomads UK the the Rhodes Foundation at Rhodes House in Oxford. The grateful recipients from the Rhodes Foundation Southern African Scholars are doing post graduate degrees at Oxford University.
The recipients come from all walks of life and were extremely grateful for the generous donations and the difference the bicycles have made in their lives.
About the Rhodes Foundation
It is a truism that: “No country can achieve sustainable economic development without substantial investment in human capital.” ~ Prof Mandla Makhanya, VC UNISA, 2020.
The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest and arguably the preeminent global scholarship programme. It is a merit-based and place based post-graduate scholarship, which is awarded internationally to talented young graduates wishing to pursue Masters or PhD (DPhil) studies at Oxford University only.
The Scholarship is unique in that it is inclusive and based on talent. It seeks well-rounded, young people who have the energy to utilise their talents and opportunities to the fullest; are values-driven, principled individuals who dare to become ethical leaders and stand up for the world.
“I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the bicycle and the lock. It has literally transformed my commute to school. What used to be a 50-minute walk is now so much easier and faster. I’m incredibly thankful for this thoughtful initiative.”
