Match Day Report

Our October fixture commenced at 11:00 AM on a bright but blustery Sunday morning. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by our Vice-Captain, Basil Burger, and our newest committee member, Rob Evans, who oversees the prizes and prize table. Together, they began preparations by setting up the altar, while our Match Secretary, June Cochrane, efficiently managed the registration process. Meanwhile, members and guests enjoyed camaraderie over coffee and bacon rolls.

We were pleased to welcome three guests from Berkshire: Jimbo Wilson, Blake Hogburn, and Chengatai Pswarayi. Their participation and support were greatly appreciated. Additionally, we hosted three visitors: John Ledgister and Ian Parker, both attending their second game, and Dave Walker, who joined us for the first time. We look forward to formally inducting them into the club in the new year.

Despite a busy course, tee-off proceeded smoothly thanks to Dave More O’Ferrall, who kindly took on starter duties. The course was in good condition and played well, with several commendable scores achieved despite the challenging wind.

Our prize table was once again a highlight of the day, made possible by the generous contributions of our main sponsor, Basil Burger and BBI Industries, as well as those who brought additional prizes. Special thanks also go to our match day sponsor, Andrew Causton, who provided the miniature divisional trophies for members to take home.

Overall, it was a successful and enjoyable day at Woodlands, and we now look forward to our next game in November at Cirencester.

Bonus Ball Lottery

As many of you know, we’ve introduced the Bonus Ball Lottery, based on the National Lottery’s bonus ball draw every Saturday. For our competition, we’ve selected the last Saturday of every month as the draw date. There are 59 numbers available, and a few spots are still up for grabs – so don’t miss out!

Each month’s winner will take home 50% of the total pot, while the remaining 50% will be retained by the club to support our mission of becoming the best golf club in the UK.

To secure your winning number will cost you £10 per month, or if you would like to secure your number for the year, it is £110 (discount applied). Contact Dean to get involved now!!
