“Why am I using a new putter? Because the old one didn’t float too well." – Craig Stadler

How many games a year does Nomads UK play?

In line with all Nomads clubs around the world, we play twelve games a year. However, due to short days and cold weather, no games are played from November to February (2023/24 season is an exception). As a result, additional games are added to the calendar to ensure we play our quota of 12 games.

Where are the games played?

Most of our clubs are played in Berkshire with some in Gloucestershire and our playing year is from 1 August to 31 July. The year culminates at our National Tournament to be played on Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th of July 2024 at the Marriott St. Pierre in Wales.

How does Nomads scoring work?

At Nomads our scoring is based on Medal-Stableford, where the round is played flat against the course and the player’s handicap is added in full afterwards. In other words, if your handicap is 12 and you score 18 points your total score is 30 (12 + 18). Playing flat against the course will earn you 2 points for a par, 3 for a birdie, 4 for an eagle, 1 for a bogey 1 and 0 for a double bogey.

Do I need to be a member of a golf club to join?

No, you do however need an official handicap to be a member at Nomads which can be obtained by joining England Golf for a nominal annual fee.
